Servicing the Prison-Industrial Complex and Homeland Security

In the US, HP provides products and services to prisons across the country, to the Department of Homeland Security for enhanced immigration status checks, and along with other IT corporations uses prison labor.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation – HP has been working on the Strategic Offender Management System(SOMS), which enables access to complete offender information, including active parolees.

Prison IT systems – HP provides information management for both state and private prisons. Its Offender Management service provides prisons across the country with offender, healthcare, visitor, and administrative management and kiosk services; and it has contracted with the private Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) to automate and streamline prison systems.

Homeland Security- ICE – HP provides the Department of Homeland Security products and services for enhanced immigration status checks; has a contract with ICE Law Enforcement Support Center (LESC) to speed up the internal process of deciding a person's documentation status; and participates in teaching computer forensic investigation in a class run in conjunction with the Secret Service and the IRS.
